Tackling Indoor Gardening

We tackled our basement this weekend to go along with 5-Minutes for Mom Tackle It Tuesday . We cleaned out all of our storage shelves because my husband bought me a grow light for my birthday (back in May). So, we finally got around to setting it up and here it is:

I can't wait to get started. The shelving unit with the reflective paper is for seedlings and I have used this for 2 years to feed my outdoor garden. The success of this set up lead to the grow light. Now, I can plant seedlings year round and bring plants to maturity under the new light. I am so excited!!! I haven't decided what I am going to plant yet but, I will be sure to blog about it when I do:-)

I would love to see how that works. Gardening in Florida over here near the beach is hard. I'll have to check back.

Wow! That is so neat. I can't wait to hear what you plant:) I am not good at planting anything outside, so I better never try the inside!

I am a gardening dummie, so excuse me if this sounds stupid:

Can you plant veggies under those lights indoors?

That is a good idea. I need to do that so my flowers bloom faster. The season is so short.

so you will be able to start and grow all your own plants from seeds rather then purchasing them. that is so cool!

I bought my mom the one sold at Bed Bath & Beyond for Christmas last year and she had the BEST luck with it...I've been thinking about getting one for myself.

Good luck.

Very cool!!! Can't wait to see what you decide on.

My mom's neighbor had something like this set up in his basement. You could see all the bright lights coming out of the basement windows in the middle of the night. It looked like there was a mad scientist down there.....ok, that is what we joked he was....ok..it wasn't funny.

That would certainly motivate me to keep a year-round herb garden. What a fantastic thing to have.

May? I think I put off those big cleanouts, too. Procrastination is easy! My room needs another (this is the catch-all in our house - I hate it).

I do look forward to watching you grow things there. It would be cool to have some pretty plants & flowers in the winter.

This is so exciting. I have wanted to try my hand at growing seedlings for a long time.

My problem now is, at our current home we have virtually no sunlight for a vegetable garden or for beautiful perennial flowers that need lots of sun. :(
